CR Service API — Terms of Service

Welcome to the CR Service API ("the API"), providing programmatic access to Costa Rica's administrative divisions (provinces, cantons, districts, and neighborhoods). By using the API, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Free and Paid Usage

The API offers a free plan limited to 500 requests per month per API key. If you exceed this limit, you must upgrade to a paid plan. Paid tiers provide higher quotas or unlimited access depending on the chosen plan.

3. Rate Limits and Enforcement

We enforce usage limits per API Key. If your usage exceeds the plan quotas, requests will be rejected with HTTP 429 Too Many Requests until the quota resets or you upgrade. Rate limiting is enforced to protect platform stability.

4. Fair Use Policy

Prohibited behaviors include, but are not limited to:

Abusive behavior may result in suspension or termination of access.

5. Availability and SLA

We strive for high availability, but the API is provided “as is” and we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We aim for a 99% uptime target but do not provide a financial SLA for the free plan.

6. Data and Privacy

Returned data is derived from public and licensed sources. By using the API you agree to comply with applicable laws and respect data usage restrictions. We process minimal personal data (if any) and any such processing will follow our Privacy Policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of the API.

8. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the API after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Terms. We will attempt to notify registered users of significant changes.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any API Key that violates these Terms, or for any reason at our discretion.

10. Billing & Upgrades

Paid plans, billing cycles, and upgrade processes will be made available on our pricing page. Upgrades generally take effect immediately after payment confirmation.
